$1.9 Million Available in Cooperative Agreement for Coastal Research Program

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 — The U.S. Department of Commerce has announced that it expects to award up to 13 cooperative agreements for the Northern Gulf of Mexico Ecosystems and Hypoxia Assessment Program and Coastal Hypoxia Research Program.

The estimated total program funding available was cited as $1,850,000 with a ceiling of $1.2 million for each award in the program.

The agency said the grant was associated with a) environment, b) natural resources, c) science and technology and d) research and development.

This funding opportunity is open to state, city, county and township governments; special district governments, for profit, nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, small businesses, Native American tribal governments, public and state controlled institutions of higher education and private institutions of higher education.

The agency description of the grant states: "The purpose of this document is to advise the public that NOAA/NOS/National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS)/Center for Sponsored Coastal Ocean Research (CSCOR) is soliciting proposals for the Northern Gulf of Mexico Ecosystems and Hypoxia Assessment Program (NGOMEX) and Coastal Hypoxia Research Program (CHRP). Funding is contingent upon the availability of Fiscal Year 2016 Federal appropriations."
